Biology of Algae (2 units)

Course Format: Two hours of lecture per week.
Prerequisites: Biology 1A-1B; Integrative Biology 101 recommended.

General biology of freshwater and marine algae, highlighting current research and integrating phylogeny, ecology, physiology, genetics, and molecular biology.

Biology of Algae Laboratory (2 units)
Course Format: Four hours of laboratory per week plus field trips.
Prerequisites: Biology 1A-1B; Integrative Biology 101 recommended. Must be taken concurrently with PMB120.

Laboratory designed to accompany 120, Biology of Algae. Laboratories include study of representative types, identification of specimens collected during several field trips, and experiments on development, physiology, and molecular genetics.
